Abstract.
In order to advance the growing
national momentum to focus on
integrated employment as the
desired outcome for citizens
with disabilities, the Board of
Directors of APSE recently
established a strategic
objective to support and promote
the Employment First movement
throughout the United States.
The purpose of this paper is to
identify the fundamental
principles of an effective state
or local initiative. The
principles identified in this
paper are built upon practical
experiences and track records of
several Employment First
projects operating successfully
around the country. (Full

In
conjunction with this years
conference MA-APSE is thrilled
to be able to bring the
Certified Employment Support
Professional (CESP) test to
Massachusetts! The Employment
Support Professional
Certification Council, the first
organization to establish a
national certification for
employment professionals,
established the CESP credential
in 2012 to ensure that
employment support personnel who
work with people with
disabilities meet nationally
accepted key competency
standards based on evidence
based practice. Let's make
credentialing a part of how we
do business in Massachusetts!
